Awards for TET students at GEC conference
Several members of the faculty for electrical engineering attended this the 70th Gaseous Electronics Conference in Pittsburgh, USA. Especially for two of them, the conference was very fruitfuil:
Sebastian Wilczek from the chair theoretical engineering was honored for his contribution with the title "Differences between Cartesian and spherical 1d3v particle-in-cell simulations" with the Student Excellence Award and Manaswi Daksha from the same chair won a Poster Award for his contribution "A real-time model for secondary electron emission coefficients in low temperature plasmas".
Congratulations to both of them!
Workshop "Plasma Theory"
A special workshop on plasma theory ranging from astrophysical topics to fusion science has been organized by Prof. Grauer from TPI. Special guests were Dr. Daniel Told from the IPP Helmholtz Group on Computational Plasma Physics and Dr. Moritz Püschel from the University of Texas/University of Wisconsin.
International School on Low Temperature Plasma Physics: Basics and Applications
The traditional summer school on low temperature plasma physics will go on in Octobre next year. The summer school takes place in Physikzentrum in Bad Honnef and is from Octobre 5th, 2018 until Octobre 10th, 2019. After the school, the master class will be from Octobre 10th, 2019 until Octobre 12th, 2019.
Participants are welcomed to sign in for registration until June 15th, 2019. Due to limitation in the number of rooms at the Physikzentrum, the attendance is limited.

Carles Corbella visiting Uppsala
Between 14th and 18th August, Dr. Carles Corbella (Experimentalphysik II, RUB) and Dr. Sabine Portal (Angewandte Festkörperphysik, RUB) visited Dr. Asim Aijaz and Dr. Tomas Kubart at the Ångström Laboratory of the Uppsala University, Sweden. The tasks, which were performed within the framework of the special research unit SFB-TR87, consisted in studying the deposition of diamond-like carbon films by means of high-power impulse magnetron sputtering.
